Frequently Asked Questions
Candidates must first complete the Assistant Swimming Teacher (Level 1) course before they can take part in a Full Swimming Teacher (Level 2) course.
Applicants must be 16 or older.
Applicants must have completed the Assistant Swimming Teacher (Level 1) course.
Swimming Teachers must keep their qualification active by taking part in Water Safety Ireland Swimming Teacher CPD workshops.
In line with the principles of CPD the following Water Safety Ireland courses are recommended for all swimming teachers:
- Swimming Teacher CPD workshops (mandatory).
- Basic Life Support 1, 2 and 3.
- Rescue 1, 2 and 3.
- National Pool Lifeguard.
- Special Needs Assistant.
- Water Safety Instructor.
- Primary Aquatics Water Safety (PAWS) Provider.
